Choose the right pallet truck
Given the large variety of possible devices, the right selection is very important for optimal long-term benefit. Therefore, get a clear idea of how your device will be used.
What are the real loads that you want to transport to the maximum? Do you want to regularly transport heavy loads? In some cases, the idea of an electric pallet truck makes sense.
What type of pallets do you want to transport? A pallet truck in custom lengths and widths may be better suited to your needs.
The ground conditions and the inclines/descents are also very important (see below). For steep inclines we have the BF-BR pallet truck with brake in our range. For chemically harsh applications or in clean rooms, we offer you, for example, the stainless steel pallet truck NR.
The most important assemblies
Drawbar: On the one hand, the drawbar is used to pull and thus drive. The operator also takes over the steering and maneuvering action and braking of the device. By moving the drawbar up and down, the hydraulic pump is driven and the reciprocating piston is pumped upwards. The drawbar on our models is therefore always very robust and ergonomically built. Some models have rubberized handles, which make handling more comfortable, especially in cold weather, and significantly increase grip.
Hydraulic pump: The hydraulic pump, consisting of a greeting, is the heart of our equipment. The pump is dimensioned depending on the load capacity. The hydraulic oil and the high-performance seals guarantee an almost endless device durability with good care and regular maintenance. That's why we at HanseLifter also give a 5-year guarantee on our quality products.
Forks / lengths & widths, fork height: The dimensioning of the forks in terms of width, height (deep pallet entry height) and width is important for the safe and optimal handling of your goods. Knowing the dimensions, we would be happy to recommend the right device for you. The large range of variants and the availability of stock ensures that you make the right choice.
Pallet truck with special functions
Some models are equipped with special functions that make work even easier and increase cycle times.
The BF-BR with integrated brake is ideal for slopes and ramps. The integrated drum brake is operated via the brake lever on the handle. The locking function secures the model on inclined levels.
Compared to the other models, the BF-SL is a special device. Thanks to its Speedlift pump, the lift is faster than other models. The optimal lifting height for moving the pallet is achieved with two drawbar strokes.
All HanseLifter models are easy to handle and offer excellent maneuverability in tight spaces. For each device you can optionally choose between different roller configurations.
Wheels and rollers
In order to optimally design the contact with the ground and the rolling properties depending on the circumstances, HanseLifter offers a large selection of rollers and wheels. As a rule, the rollers under the forks are installed as single rollers or as tandem rollers. The steering wheels are the wheels mounted under the hydraulics and are used for the steering process.
Rubber rollers/wheels have a particularly good grip and roll over small obstacles, such as chips or similar, more easily. On the other hand, the rolling properties are a little more difficult because the rubber deforms very easily and this force ultimately has to be applied. So if the pallet weight is high, it is better to choose a different type of wheels/rollers. A particular advantage of the rubber roller/wheel is the smoother running.
Nylon wheels: This type of wheel runs very smoothly and has a hard and abrasion-resistant running surface. The running is less quiet, but the properties against chemical influences are the best of the entire selection. They are therefore suitable for heavy loads and smooth floors, especially in the food industry.
Polyurethane (PU): The universal material PU offers a middle ground between rubber and nylon. This material is ideal for hard hall floors, where small unevenness in the floor can be easily driven over. PU is abrasion-resistant and quiet and offers optimal traction. Smooth running and rolling resistance are in an optimal relationship.
Material and paint
Basically, all devices are powder-coated and therefore have very effective corrosion protection. The powder coating also offers protection against light scratches.
As standard, all Hanselifter devices are delivered in color RAL 5012, other colors are available on request.
All load-bearing steel structures are specially reinforced. The steel sheet thickness is 3 mm (including tolerance). The pallet trucks from Hanselifter are designed for continuous use and are constructed to be very durable.
The entry markings on the forks are helpful. These always guarantee the correct entry depth into the pallet.
There are also pallet trucks made of stainless steel that do not require powder coating. Stainless steel offers excellent corrosion protection and is ideal for use in clean rooms.
Special pallet trucks for off-road use and more
Many tasks require many extras. A driving brake with a locking function is an essential extra when driving on ramps or slopes.

HanseLifter has the BF-GL ready for use on construction sites or in terrain without solid ground. The off-road pallet truck with extra-large rubber tires can withstand almost any surface.

High load capacities
The hydraulic pump and the structural design itself determine the load capacity. Pallet trucks with higher load capacities have an appropriately reinforced frame construction.
Our program currently offers pallet trucks with a load capacity of up to 5 tons. These are equipped with special steel rollers, as well as an extra reinforced frame and lifting drawbar.
Our range also offers particularly small pallet trucks for half pallets, with a load capacity of 500 kg. These are mainly used in retail.
The standard models in our range have load capacities between 2,000 kg and 2,500 kg. This load capacity is completely sufficient for normal use, as pallets only exceed the weight of 2,500 kg in special cases.
Hanselifter pallet truck - maintenance and service
All HanseLifter models are robot welded and designed to be low-maintenance and durable. In particularly high and frequent loads or in an environment rich in dust, changing the seal regularly is recommended. This is usually advisable every 2-4 years. The rollers can be easily replaced if they wear out. Before the tires become brittle, you should definitely replace the wheels and rollers. We or our local service partner will be happy to provide this service or our technical service will be happy to help you by telephone. FAQ: Pallet truck
Pallet trucks, also known as low-lift trucks or pallet trucks, are industrial trucks and enable heavy loads to be moved without much effort. Pallet trucks are best suited for moving pallets. With the fork of the pallet truck you can easily drive into pallets and lift them with just a few drawbar strokes, so that you can move the pallets without coming into contact with the ground. The pallets can be lowered again using a lever on the drawbar handle.
Pallet trucks are used wherever palletized goods are transported, loaded, unloaded and picked. In many areas, such as the logistics industry, practical transport aids have become indispensable. Standard pallet trucks are vulnerable to the weather and can therefore only be used indoors. Smooth and hard floors are also an advantage. But there are also pallet trucks for outdoor use, for uneven surfaces and for clean rooms.
In addition to the standard pallet trucks, there are also the categories of scissor pallet trucks, electric pallet trucks and scale pallet trucks, all of which have their individual advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to standard pallet trucks, there are many subcategories with practical functions, such as 4-way pallet trucks, speed lifts and all-terrain pallet trucks. There are also pallet trucks in a wide range of special sizes and pallet trucks made from different materials.
Predicting the service life of lifting and conveying equipment is generally not that easy. Good care and regular maintenance are crucial factors. In addition, life expectancy depends on the type and frequency of activity. On average, manufacturers give a 3-5 year guarantee. Hanselifter offers a 5-year guarantee on its products. However, if used frequently, wearing parts such as wheels and rollers may need to be replaced sooner. With moderate use and adherence to maintenance and care guidelines, pallet trucks can last for well over a decade.
Operating a pallet truck is very easy. No forklift license or other qualifications are required. However, beginners are strongly recommended to receive instruction from qualified employees.
If you ask yourself a few questions before buying a pallet truck, you can eliminate the risk of a bad investment:
- What is the maximum weight you want to transport?
- Do you just want to move your goods or maybe also lift and stack them?
- Which goods do you mainly want to transport? What are the pallet dimensions?
